How To Make The Most Of A First Date

Living in the age of the Internet it seems that we all have our cell phones attached to ourselves all the time. Not only has the world in which we live changed as a result of technology, but the rules of dating may seem different as well. Since we are so avidly connected to the web, more romantic connections occur online than from in-person meetings. Dating websites are seeing increased activity, and many singles rely on them solely for the purpose of meeting Mr. or Mrs. Right. Before venturing out on that first date here are a few things women should keep in mind and do to make that date a success.

1) He looks a little different than his online profile picture
Let’s face it, we like to put our best face forward when it comes to our profile pictures. But an unfortunate reality of online dating is that often times who you see in person is not who you saw online. And while this may be disconcerting, keep in mind that most people only post pictures that showcase themselves in the very best light and therefore may look a little different in person. But little is the key word here. If your date looks ten years older than his online picture or doesn’t even resemble what you saw online, your date’s misleading action here could be representative of a dishonest character trait. This may not be someone you want to get into a trusting relationship with so proceed with caution.

2) Look at your date not your phone
Most of us have a habit of pulling out our phone and then can immediately get lost in cyberspace with all the apps, web sites and functions that are embedded. But on a date you should think twice before reaching for that phone. This is the time to get to know your date not text the world that you are on a date.

Trying to engage with someone while he or she is glued to the phone can make a first date even more nerve-wracking. And when you are using your phone, you essentially are sending the message, “I’m not into you.” So unless that is the message you want to send to him, keep that phone tucked away and focus on the present moment and the person who is right in front of you. And if your date can’t free his eyes of his phone, you should take this as a sign that he may not be a very attentive partner for the long haul.

3) Ask questions
Going on a first date can make anyone nervous. To make the experience easier for the nerves, it can be helpful to have a few open-ended questions prepared ahead of time that you can ask while on your date. This is useful for a couple of reasons. One, it takes the spotlight off your nerves. Also, through his responses you can get to know his personality a little better. Finally, even though your initial questions may have been prepared, hopefully this will lead to a natural, flowing conversation.

4) Smile
This seems like a logical thing to do, but unfortunately is easily forgotten. Such a simple gesture can go a long way. Whether you are nervous about the date or are already anticipating it going badly, forcing yourself to smile will naturally put you in a better frame of mind. Many of us have heard the expression “fake it until you make it,” and that is definitely applicable here.

Smiling will also have a positive effect on your date. If he’s feeling unsettled about the first date as well, it may be just the trick to calm his nerves. Seeing someone with a smile usually leads us to think that person is confident in his or her skin, which sets a positive tone for the date and perhaps relationship. Finally, when we smile at someone, that person has a tendency to automatically smile back at us. This would then be a good time for you to assess whether he has a smile worth smiling about.

Now that you have this knowledge, let’s take a look at what some guys are doing to prepare for that first date and make you his girlfriend. There is a guy named Christian Hudson from The Hero Co, who has a girlfriend getting activation system that he says is guaranteed for any guy to get a girlfriend.
